The hoods that vent the air outside of the home are called vented hoods. They require a duct system that attaches to the range hood and is connected to an external wall within the home. These hoods are very easy to maintain as they don't have any filtration system that you need to clean or replace. They do have a grid type panel underneath that will need to be cleaned to remove any grease that clogs the small holes.
